11.27.11

cowhide booklet
filled with graph paper. it even has its own tiny pencil!
gilt page edges, and a pocket on the inside of one cover.

drawers from a Singer G-series treadle sewing machine (created in 1910)
five spools of 100% silk thread, and a well made curved needle
thimble. because i needed one.

a couple of fleece-lined gloves for winter shenanigans
automatic tweezers, age unknown. super cool! see video below:

antique wooden cash register drawer. very heavy.
refurbished in 1943
front panel is made of metal enameled to look like dark wood
the cash drawer will be hung curio-style like the smaller one above on the wall.
neat instructional sticker inside the cash drawer

11.20.11

notice the fantastic gene wilder art.
it is the newest addition to the top of my already too-crowded microwave.

seems to be a piece of movable type.
i haven't been able to find information online about engraved images like this.

neat little leather needle booklet with felt "pages".
contained a few well-made, large sewing needles and...
... a delightfully aged business card.

two lovely frames for a couple of the horse photos seen here.

in the frames:

i think this frame used to hold a three dimensional object

polaroid film! $2.00! expiration Dec 1979

wooden latching box with basically unused pastels.

neat file drawer full of sewing notions.

a couple of the dividers within the drawer. these were tacked down.

containers of metal zippers. there are 16 total.

 thread brands. all wooden spools
J&P Coats. Coats & Clarks. Star. Super Sheen. Talon. Belding Corticelli

 clear nylon "blending" thread

 a bunch of machine needles.

i believe these are medical shears?

how all the thread looks in the drawer of my work table

an incomplete catalogue of previously undocumented findings

jar o'buttons, leather hole punch, old-school can/wine bottle opener
a bunch of old photos with horses in them. late 50's -70s
another old horse photo in a frame also gotten at the flea
this is my favorite photo so far. a caption on the back reads:
"This horse belongs to the chief of police of Llallagua."
the horse is most likely a Criollo

Blue Chip Stamps. there were sewing needles in this package.

crowley's lion brand needle book. pre-war quality in a war economy pack.
book says 6 needles within, though i counted 20

i wish banks and supermarkets still gave out stuff like this

Belding Corticelli: thread specialists for over 135 years

the drawer is a flea find. the contents are thrift store finds.

old binoculars. or monoculars, since a lens is missing.

remember when Kraft cheese used to come in a wooden box?
me either. love this thing.
